Summary
A leading investment bank is looking for a high quality candidate to join the Cash, Collateral and Liquidity function in Europe and provide leadership for risk and control. The role requires a strong leader with good business knowledge, risk awareness and control mindset to join the European management team and help drive and own the ongoing development of the function, locally and globally, across all the business areas above as well as own specific change initiatives relating to the function.
This is a challenging role requiring the successful individual to partner, coordinate and drive progress across global functional teams and different business areas and stakeholders around the firm. As a newly formed function we are looking to significantly improve our process and business coverage and as such need a pro-active individual who is able to anticipate changing business needs and identify practical and robust ways of managing, mitigating and reporting on risk. Responsibilities
- Develop and own the risk and control agenda for the function
- Partner with functional heads to develop policies and procedures to ensure a robust level of risk management and control across the varied business functions we support
- Develop and lead business governance and control structure partnering with colleagues across functions
- Management of interactions and follow-up on Risk and Control Assessment(RCA)process
- Develop framework to deliver best in class metrics around commercial, control and process KPIs
- Monitor trends on key control indicators and escalate and work with the line managers to assess root cause & develop a remediation plan where appropriate
- Manage monthly balance sheet, account ownership and asset at risk process and sign-off for group
- Manage and support issue escalation, crisis reporting and any SMT reporting as appropriate
- Lead resolution on all operating events including issue resolution and corrective action implementation
- Benchmark and independently assess existing control functions against best practice and consistency across regions
- Proactively work to identify and deliver on areas for improvement (control, efficiency, business value)
- Ensure plans in place for supporting any market, credit or liquidity risk events across group
- Participate in planned strategic change initiatives to represent risk and control throughout
- Actively contribute to and help lead the definition and shape of the global CCL function and wider initiatives across the broader organisation as required
Experience / Skills
CORE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Leadership experience across teams and functions working with global teams
- Strong approach to risk management and awareness of control across BAU and change programmes
- Direct experience of the relevant business lines and processes including liquidity management, treasury, securities, financing and collateral is advantageous though strong knowledge in other areas is applicable
- Experience leading strategic change across major markets areas and operating teams valuable
- Strong business and operational knowledge including understanding what drives control and scale and risk management across production processes
- Track-record of delivery in a business-facing production, risk and/or change roles
- Prior experience of working with external providers and partners is an advantage
- Credibility and influence in order to proactively manage diverse internal stakeholder groups
- Experience driving process reengineering and improvement
- Understanding of commercial dynamics around business
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualified ACA, CIMA, MBA or advanced degree valuable
- Experience in Risk, Control Product Control or Audit related functions
- Disciplined and structured approach to project management across all aspects of the project lifecycle
- Excellent interpersonal skills including relationship management, communication, teamwork and partnership
